Viristar Shares Expertise on Adventure Tourism Safety with Outdoor Operators in Iceland

Viristar’s Director, Jeff Baierlein, will deliver a presentation on The Role of Regulation in Strengthening the Adventure Tourism Sector to members of Samtök ferðaþjónustunnar (SAF), the Icelandic Travel Industry Association, on September 25th.

At the meeting, the current state of safety in adventure tourism in Iceland will be reviewed. Jeff will highlight where adventure safety regulations are in place or under consideration, including the UK, Japan, Georgia, Switzerland, New Zealand, and the UAE.

The session will explore not only when regulation can be most valuable but also how useful regulation can be developed.

The presentation, given to SAF’s Afþreyingarnefnd, or recreation committee, will conclude with considerations and recommendations for strengthening Iceland’s adventure tourism sector.
