Malaysia has a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Student Outdoor Recreation (Prosedur Operasi Standard Rekreasi Luar Pelajar Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi). The 104-page document, published in Malay, was first printed by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2017.
Viristar partnered with Happy Hollow Children’s Camp to support the camp’s 2024-2028 strategic plan. Viristar’s contributions included developing curriculum to enhance summer and academic-year programs. This involved creating structured program schedules, detailed lesson plans, staff training materials, and resources to establish a multi-year adventure camp experience.

Viristar led a session at ITB Berlin 2025 on ‘Adventure Tourism and the Science of Safety: Applying Current Research in Systems-Based Risk Management to Travel Experiences’.
Jeff Baierlein, Viristar’s Director, has been invited as a distinguished speaker at the Fujairah International Conference of Adventure Tourism. The event is set to take place on April 29 – May 2, 2025 in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
The Singapore government recently published an official Code of Practice for Outdoor Adventure Education in the island country. This follows several major safety incidents in the adventure sector, and represents a major advance in safety and quality of outdoor activities in Southeast Asia.

This session offered guidance on the development of adventure tourism safety regulations, with a focus on supporting economic development and sustainable business growth.

Erin brings years of professional experience as a Trip Coordinator, adventure guide, and outdoor educator for multi-week and multi-activity outdoor excursions. She holds a certification as an Environmental Education Facilitator and as a Wilderness First Responder. Erin is trained in Mental Health First Aid and is a Leave No Trace instructor.
