Viristar is pleased to share that participants in Viristar’s Risk Management for Outdoor Programs course can now receive continuing education credits through the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE).
AIARE Instructors and Course Leaders (CLs) are required to complete a minimum of eight hours of continuing education annually to maintain their instructor status. This professional development can be fulfilled through AIARE-led trainings or through high-quality external courses listed by AIARE as recommended CE opportunities.
Viristar’s Risk Management for Outdoor Programs course is now included in AIARE’s list of recommended non-AIARE CE courses and meets the 8-hour annual CE requirement for AIARE Instructors and CLs.

The Risk Management for Outdoor Programs course is a 40-hour online training that provides participants with an in-depth understanding of systems thinking in risk management, legal considerations, incident response planning, and safety culture development. Course graduates receive a three-year internationally recognized certification.
Alexander Vasarab, Professional Member of the American Avalanche Association (A3) and Rock, Alpine, and Ski Guide, states, “I’ve been extremely impressed [with the course].”
AIARE CE credit for the Viristar course does not require additional fees or registration steps beyond course completion. Simply complete the Risk Management for Outdoor Programs training, and your completion certificate may be used to document your annual continuing education hours with AIARE.
