Outdoor Risk Management Courses Open for April, May, June, July, and August


Viristar is pleased to announce that Risk Management for Outdoor Programs trainings are now enrolling for July and August. This acclaimed 40-hour online course is the most comprehensive, effective outdoor safety training available today for professionals in the wilderness, travel, experiential, adventure and outdoor fields.


Course dates and times now currently available are:

  • April 7 to May 5

  • May 1 to May 29

  • June 2 to June 30

  • July 7 to August 4

  • August 4 to September 11



Courses take place over 4 weeks. They include five video-conference calls (generally 90 minutes each), one week apart. In between are Independent Work Periods for individual study and small group work.


Participants engage in readings, online discussion forums, video-based role-play scenarios, quizzes, simulation games, case study analysis, and more.


Course topics include manage of risks related to Organizational Culture, Activities and Program Areas, Staff, Equipment, Participants, Subcontractors, Transportation, Business Administration.


The course also covers the risk management instruments of Risk Transfer, Incident Management, Incident Reporting, Incident Reviews, Risk Management Committee, Medical Screening, Risk Management Reviews, Media Relations, Documentation, Accreditation, Seeing Systems
