Viristar and ISEEN Partner to Improve Safety in Experiential Programs

Viristar is pleased to join with the Independent Schools Experiential Education Network (ISEEN) to bring best-in-class risk management trainings to experiential programs in the ISEEN community.

Through a partnership agreement with Viristar, ISEEN is able to offer Risk Management for Outdoor Programs courses, facilitated by Viristar, at an attractive discount.

Each enrollment also supports ISEEN’s ability to meet its mission to lead, inform, connect, expand, and steward transformational experiential teaching and learning throughout an interconnected world.

Participants registering for a Viristar outdoor safety class through ISEEN’s registration link get 10 percent off the normal price. And a portion of their tuition revenue goes directly to ISEEN to increase the nonprofit’s capacity to foster transformative teaching and learning in an interconnected world.

Is the Course Applicable to Individuals Not In an Independent School?

Yes! Participants from independent schools (private schools), international schools, Gap Year and semester abroad programs, search and rescue, and wilderness therapy programs have found the course beneficial.

So have individuals from therapeutic recreation, outdoor adventure, study abroad and environmental conservation/environmental education organizations.

What Is ISEEN?

ISEEN, founded in 2005, seeks to lead, inform, connect, expand, and steward transformational experiential teaching and learning throughout an interconnected world.

The nonprofit, based in the US, has over 100 member schools throughout North America. ISEEN offers networking and training opportunities including workshops, affinity groups, Regional Expeditions, Winter Institutes, Summer Institutes, and Global Institutes, to support innovation and excellence in experiential education.

Who Should Take Advantage of This Course Opportunity?

The Risk Management for Outdoor Programs course is relevant for not just experiential program coordinators in independent schools. It’s also useful for managers of any outdoor, experiential, wilderness, travel-based or adventure program. Organizations responsible for wilderness risk management, addressing hazards of international travel, and even indoor experiential adventures such as climbing walls will find the course useful.

The course is applicable to leaders with organizations involved with adventure tourism, outdoor recreation, outdoor education, service learning, and specialty programs like the International Baccalaureate (IB) Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) programme, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, International Youth Award, Hillary Award, and Award for Young People.

Great! How Do I Sign Up?

Individuals interested to take advantage of this discounted training opportunity can register for any Risk Management for Outdoor Programs multi-week online training on the Viristar schedule.
