Viristar and Outdoor Council of Canada Bring Outdoor Safety Trainings to Canadian Outdoor Community



Viristar is pleased to partner with the Outdoor Council of Canada / Conseil Canadien de Plein Air (OCC) to bring Risk Management for Outdoor Programs training courses to OCC members at a special discount.


The Risk Management for Outdoor Programs certificated training is a 40-hour online course that occurs over four weeks. The rigorous and intensive class is offered each month, and features five live video-conference sessions (generally 90 minutes each), and independent work periods with individual study and small group projects in between.

Viristar has a special relationship with the outdoor sector in Canada. Viristar’s Director, Jeff Baierlein, who studied in Canada during college, led wilderness paddling expeditions for many years in Ontario’s Quetico Provincial Park, as well as outdoor education sailing trips in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia. Viristar provides instructional staff for an outdoor safety course at Thompson Rivers University’s Adventure Guide training program held through TRU’s Keilir affiliate.
