By Kaelan Young

Viristar is pleased to partner with the Union of International Mountain Leader Associations (UIMLA) to enhance outdoor safety. Through this collaboration, Viristar will offer Risk Management for Outdoor Programs training courses to UIMLA members at a discounted rate.

UIMLA is offering the comprehensive, four-week online trainings at a 20 percent discount, increasing the accessibility of training opportunities for professionals in the UIMLA community. The 20 percent discount is good for a one-year period.

Marian Anghel, Vice President of UIMLA, stated, “Offering Viristar’s Risk Management for Outdoor Programs course to UIMLA members represents a significant advancement in the profession. International Mountain Leaders around the world recognize the importance of safety, and Viristar’s trainings are renowned for their excellence. These courses are designed to help outdoor professionals gain the skills to manage risks effectively and deliver safe, high-quality experiences in the mountains.”

The trainings, facilitated by Viristar instructors, will help International Mountain Leaders navigate safety challenges.

The rigorous 40-hour training, offered online throughout the year, includes both self-paced study and seminar-style group discussions. Topics covered include incident prevention, safety culture, adventure standards, emergency planning, media relations, legal considerations, documentation, staff training and supervision, systems thinking, and more.

Viristar Director Jeff Baierlein stated, “We are thrilled to partner with UIMLA’s network of International Mountain Leaders. Outdoor professionals committed to excellence in outdoor safety will find great value in the Risk Management for Outdoor Programs training.”
