Viristar is pleased to have been accepted as a new Affiliate Member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). We are excited to be part of a global network dedicated to promoting responsible and sustainable travel experiences.
What is the World Tourism Organization?
The World Tourism Organization is the United Nations agency dedicated to the promotion of responsible, sustainable, and universally accessible tourism. A leading international organization in the field of tourism, UNWTO collaborates closely with its members, which include both government bodies and private sector entities.
By fostering knowledge sharing, policy advocacy, and international collaboration, UNWTO helps shape the future of global tourism.
Viristar and the Global Tourism Sector
Viristar’s work in the adventure tourism and educational travel sector spans Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Americas and Europe.
Viristar has:
advised the Japanese government on regulation of the adventure tourism sector,
trained adventure guides in Iceland,
worked on adventure safety standards for South Africa’s inbound tourism sector,
conducted safety trainings for adventure guides in Canada,
provided risk management training to adventure tourism guides in Japan, and
provided adventure safety guidance to leaders in Australia’s adventure tourism and outdoor recreation sector.
Viristar’s Director drafted adventure safety technical regulations for the nation of Georgia in the Caucasus, and has provided expert witness services in the outdoor adventure tourism sector.
About the Affiliate Members of UN Tourism
Affiliate Members of UN Tourism include around 500 entities, including private companies, associations, educational institutions, and Destination Management Organizations (DMOs).
Affiliate Members benefit from a collaborative environment that promotes engagement, information exchange, and access to valuable resources. This network plays a significant role in addressing tourism-related issues and advancing the tourism industry while supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
