Viristar is leading an Experiential Learning Trip Risk Management training at the American International School of Vilnius May 29-30, 2026.
The two-day training will build knowledge and skills on the part of American International School of Vilnius (AISV) faculty and staff regarding experiential learning trip risk management. Chaperones and trip leaders from other Central & Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) member schools and other schools providing experiential learning trips are encouraged to apply to participate in the training.
Participants can:
- Develop awareness of risk management principles, including risk domains
- Gain awareness of risk management instruments (broad safety tools/approaches)
- Improve safety culture by increasing sensitivity to risks and factors influencing incident causation
- Understand factors influencing judgment and decision-making in the field
- Develop skills in incident prevention and incident response
The training combines lecture-based instruction with case studies, role plays and scenario-based discussions.
Curriculum
The curriculum will focus on off-campus trips and adventure activities, primarily for students in grades 5-12.
Training content may also be applicable to younger grades and certain on-campus activities such as summer camp.
Case studies and scenarios will focus on safety matters relating to travel and outdoor experiences. The training textbook, which focuses on outdoor and adventure experiences, contains content that can be applied to experiential learning activities.
The principles and theoretical models of risk management presented will be widely applicable to all activities.
